The TROPOS Process Definition functionality is contained within the TROPOS Resources, Products and Processes module and gives you the power to define your development, production and maintenance processes in a way which directly reflects the way in which your products are manufactured.

All resources in terms of machines, skills, materials, utilities etc. can be defined along with their capacity and availability.

Process definitions describe how these resources are used to manufacture target products through a combination of serial, parallel, or overlapping process stages. TROPOS supports both hierarchical and flat production process definitions accurately reflecting your process in planning and costing.

At every stage you can define inputs and outputs including: materials, catalysts, energy, plant and labour times, machine set points, quantities, products, co-products, by-products, recycled material and waste. You can also define the quality specifications required by each process, stage, input and output material.

To reflect multiple plant locations, alternatives, batch sizes, costs, production rates and other variables, you can specify multiple processes for the same product. You can define the production rate, capacity and skill level needed for each plant unit.

Each process can be used as a template that links resources, without reference to a particular product. To this template you can add formulas, recipes, or bills of material and define specific raw material storage locations and alternatives. Comprehensive authorisation and release procedures ensure that only valid processes can be used in the production and maintenance activities while allowing new processes to be modelled.
