The simplest and most cost effective way to update and share information across an organisation is using an Intranet. This means the maintenance of software on each PC is minimised and there can be a common access point, or Portal, for all business applications, internal and external information. TROPOS Web Client is the alternative way of accessing TROPOS using a Browser and complements the TROPOS PC Client providing advanced usability features and greater levels of interface configuration.
Users will find browser-based applications a great help in improving personal productivity as the new generation of applications operate in a similar way, making it easy to learn new functions, and changing between applications will no longer mean remembering different operating instructions. When the TROPOS Web Client transactions are configured in a personal portal as part of a company Intranet, these advantages are significantly enhanced as all data entry or enquiry transactions can be accessed with the click of a mouse, regardless of which application the transaction is part of. TROPOS Web Client is supplied with a fully functional Intranet including templates for business functions such as telephone lists, bulletin boards, forums, company information and Quality Management Systems. The Intranet Administrator functions are used to manage user access to all information and TROPOS transactions, making TROPOS a fully integrated part of an organisations business processes. The TROPOS Intranet and Web Client Solution can be configured by the system administrator to reflect the corporate style, and these can even be implemented as multiple styles to reflect regional or Divisional identities. Job or Functional “Roles”TROPOS Web Client is supplied with advanced configuration utilities allowing the system administrator to configure a Portal reflecting an individual’s job or role. These Portals can be populated with TROPOS transactions, intranet functions, custom applications (created with TROPOS Application Designer), links to web published reports, and links to external web sites making it easy for the individual to access everything they need to do their job from a single point. This administration is centralised creating significant savings in terms of IT support costs, as the thin client web technologies used remove the need for manually installed local clients on each user’s PC. TROPOS automatically downloads the relevant components as each user logs onto the Web Server and the Portal can be accessed by the user from any point on the intranet. The configurable TROPOS Web Client user interface can
extend the use of TROPOS as an integral part of your supply-chain, extending
beyond your traditional users out to your field staff and business partners.
In addition the underlying technology enables e-business and self-service
I*net solutions to be configured which reflect specific job roles and
