Update on the Acquisition by Solarsoft

Chelford Group plc, the parent company of SSI, has been acquired by Solarsoft Business Systems, an international company supplying ERP solutions through offices in North America, Europe and Asia. This brings tremendous advantages to SSI and our customers.

“We believe that it is in the best interest of the Chelford Group to combine with an external partner to support our growth and potential in a consolidating market. A combination with Solarsoft Business Systems will provide additional financial and other resources to support the ongoing development of the Chelford Group for the benefit of customers, employees and suppliers”, said William Birkett, the Chairman of Chelford. 

Solarsoft has recognized SSI’s reputation and expertise in its key markets and SSI will now become Solarsoft’s industry division servicing Process Manufacturers. The TROPOS products and services will continue to be developed to meet the needs of our customers.

New Role-Based Applications

The first generation of TROPOS Role Based Applications (RBA) were designed to make existing TROPOS menu-driven transactions faster and easier to use by creating an intuitive user interface with funcionality presented according the the role of the user.

Now the RBAs have been taken a step further by developing enhanced RBAs that add significant new funcionality though an interactive interface. This new approach is ideal for the key production planning, scheduling and data capture functions in a fast-moving production business. The following RBAs are amongst those available:

• Forecast Management and Production Planning
• Rough Cut Capacity Planning
• Production Scheduling
• Touch-Screen Shop Floor Systems
• Hand-held Shop Floor Systems

TROPOS DataMart Report Packs

The TROPOS DataMart is supplied as a pre-built database, containing data structures, built-in data summaries and analysis dimensions for each of the main TROPOS functional areas. TROPOS replicates data from the TROPOS database to the TROPOS DataMart and maintains data by net replication for efficiency so it is always up to date. We have introduced Report templates and standard report packs for SQL Server 2005 to help you deploy your TROPOS DataMart and start accessing information quickly. Available now are templates for Sales Analysis, Production Orders and Stock Movements, and report packs for CODA Financials and HMRC for dutiable goods.

TROPOS RBA and DataMart Workshop

We will be running a free seminar and workshop to demonstrate the range of new RBAs, including the very impressive Production Scheduling RBA, on Wednesday 11th June at Tankersley Manor Hotel (M1 Junction 36 Barnsley South).  If you would like to attend, all SSI customers are very welcome. It will be an ideal opportunity to look at these new applications in the morning, with a chance to discuss specific applications with our consultants in optional afternoon workshops. Food Manufacture Excellence Awards 2008

We are again sponsoring the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards, which honour the very best UK food and drink manufacturing companies. Organised by Food Manufacture magazine and sponsored by the key suppliers the food and drink industry, it is open to any manufacturer of food or drink in a number of categories. Last year,  TROPOS user Giles Foods were shortlisted and the section was won by Bells of Lazenby, now also implementing TROPOS.  TROPOS customers are among the best in their sector and we would encourage all engaged  in food and drink manufacturing to enter. New Staff at SSI

A number of our customers will have already met Steve Moore, who joins our team as Account Manager to look after our expanding list of customers. Steve has a degree in Systems Analysis followed by 15 years of Account Management experience in the software industry. He has focussed on process manufacturing, particularly in the food and drinks sector, over the last 8 years. Steve is based in Northampton, and on those rare occasions when he can spare time from his SSI work and the demands of a young family, he likes to watch rugby. We are very pleased to have Steve on the SSI team.
